Model Railroader magazine in their April 1977 issue, did the definitive article on the ever-popular prototype, the Undecorated Railroad, presumed uin the article to be a free-roaming lease fleet of surplus power, long before leasing companies became reality and popular. This occasion with 5632 was the prototype photo of the steam models.

Today, of course, it'd actually be a lot easier to justify the Undecorated Railroad, considering how many locos get pressed into service before their appointment in a paint booth!

If one was to actually purchase the model in HO scale brass - would it be considered "painted" or "unpainted"? (I was kidding, but now that I think about it......).
