I nominate as newer fireless steam survivors H.K. Porter 8189 and 8190, built April 1949 for the Penna. Power & Light plant at Shamokin Dam, Pa. (near Selinsgrove and Sunbury). Both locomotives survive somewhat tenuously; at last report I had one was rusting away at the end of track of the former West Shore RR in Mifflinburg, Pa. in private hands, and the other was in the dead line of the Blue Mountain & Reading at the Hamburg, Pa. shop facility, a leftover from the estate of their late steam mechanic.

I've not heard of a newer fireless that survives, however Porter 8239, built in April 1950 for St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington D.C. and now at the B&O Museum, is a newer Porter conventional steamer--the last Porter steam built for the domestic market.

Dear Les:
I count 3 (three) 0-8-0 tender locomotives older than the 806 (built 6/1910):
Memnon -1848, KCS 1023 -1906 and CPR 6947-1908 (the last two began their careers as 2-8-0s).
Virginian 4 is close, built 8/1910, two months after 806...
Best regards,

Yes; the fourth one I was thinking of was NdeM #639; preserved at the Buena Vista station, Mexico. Baldwin (Burnham) 1881.

The newest fireless steam locomotives are Davenport 3420/1953; built for Barry Steam Plant and preserved at the Heart of Dixie NRHS in Birmingham; Porter 8266/1950 at the Indiana Transportation Museum in Noblesville, and Porter 8237/1950 at the Wilmington & Western Railroad. Notice that 8266 has a builders number after Porter 8239 built for St. Elizabeth's Hospital; similiar 0-4-0T locomotives (but built to 700 mm gauge) 8245, 8248, and 8253 are preserved in Serbia.

Greetings: N de M No. 639 is an 0-8-0RT (rear tank) rebuilt from a 3' gauge 2-8-0.
Does anyone have the BLW construction number for this locomotive?
Thank you in advance!
