What is it about a can of white or silver paint and driver tires and counterweights that people can't resist? Other than that, she looks good. The green has oxidized lighter, but weather will do that.

I've never cared for white tires or counterweights, but other than that, it's how a "park engine" should be maintained!

A sister engine to the 2505, which David Plowden so movingly wrote about in his book "A Time Of Trains".

Amazing-- all the gages and brake handles are still there. The Willmar parks people deserve a lot of credit for this one.

Don't forget their sister #2507 - snug as a bug in a rug in Wishram WA until I win the Lotto.

This class was evidently loved by the GN crews.

The 2523 looks be in great shape - virtually no rust - no obvious asbestos problem.

I would love to see one of these beauties polishing some rail some day.

The Katy maintained its steam locomotives with white tires and running board edges. After WWll the smokebox and firebox's got bright aluminum paint instead of graphite. This high maintence standard included its 4-6-2 passenger, 2-8-2 freight and even its 0-6-0 and 0-8-0. They did not paint the counterweights.
