Looking better than most this past July, at Pasco, Washington:

The 1364 was displayed at Tacoma until 1976, then dismantled for an overhaul that never came. It remains so, but work is now underway in the Yakima area.

The 1382 remains intact and looks pretty good at Helena, Montana, though both it and the 1354 probably have a good deal of corrosion under the jackets.

NP 1356 had its jacketing pulled about four years ago and received a full repaint. The cab floor was also rebuilt, but the cab needs a lot of work (new windows and sills. A new tender end beam and new pilot were also applied. A new fence was also put up which keeps the transients from camping in it.

I tried tackling it nearly 20 years ago, got as far as replacing the roofing on the cab and shoveling a few hundred pounds of Mt St Helens ash out of the tender. I also disconnect the firemans waterline connection as water from the tender was sitting in the line, causing the firemans side injector line to split from freezing. That was my first experience with railroad preservation.
