About the smoke thing: I want to mention what kind of smoke: here
in the east it needs to be coal smoke. I know we have discussed
oil v coal for clean air, cost, convenience etc but COAL is a very
big part of the steam engine story. Most people have not ever held
a piece of coal much less know one kind from another. The story
of coal is a huge part of US history. To discard coal firing for
whatever reason seems to me to be watering the history down
to the point where we've lost a vital part of the story.
History should be history, not a"colorful recreation of America's
non-existant past".
