Looks like it got some paint this past year at Boulder City. This was the last UP steam in regular service out of Denver that I know of, in March 1957.

It was first displayed at Corinne, Utah, with SP 1774, here in May 1969:

It is good to see the 264 looking good. (When it was in Heber City everybody referred to it as the 264, an earlier number, not 6264.)

As noted in another, earlier post, this locomotive was in excellent condition and should be a good candidate for returning to service.

Which locomotive is in front of the 264? The 35?

Nice to see 6264 in new paint after so many years of decrepitude. My question, however, is why did they go to all the trouble of relettering/renumbering it with the wrong font style? The average non-foamer would probably not notice, but it stands out like a sore thumb to me.

And it should be simple to exactly duplicate the style of letters used on UP steam locomotives--- after all, there a few of them around to trace....

About four years ago, I was told that was the eventual plan. She looks excellent in new paint. Should be a lesson to any museum/display organization of what a relatively simple preservation technique can do to bring people around. From decrepitude to display piece.
