Who's going to Springfield

Hi,

It's less than 2 weeks until the big Springfield, MA railroad show. It's usually a good place to catch up with some RYPN regulars. Who's going? I will be there Saturday.

Stop and visit the RMNE display, at section 54 in the main building. The usual suspects will be there (if they're not off roaming around). We'll be showing the latest projects in the display.

I plan to be there on Saturday with my son. He wouldn't forgive me if I didn't take him. A month after the show, he starts asking can we go again.

On the topic of the show and the Big E (Eastern States Expedition Grounds) a recent thread over at Railroad.net has talked about when the New York Central/Boston and Albany had a spur into the grounds and at one time displayed some equipment. - http://www.railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=35093

Friends of the East Broad Top will be there, at table 18 P in the Better Living Center. Jim Vliet, Lee Carlson and Jon Radder will be manning the display. Come on by and see a photo display of the historic EBT RR, the EBT today, and recent restoraction efforts by FEBT, pick up info about visiting the EBT RR, list of websites, etc. Also, we will have a special show-only price on the FEBT DVD "A Living Landmark". See you there !!

I'll be there on Saturday. Sounds like we should designate a place and time for all the RyPN'ers at the show to meet up and introduce ourselves.

As it turns out I will be there Saturday. I leave the Huck this afternoon and drive to Al Francis' just east of Rochester NY. On Friday we will drive to Palmer, Mass. to pick up an 1 1/2" scale Pacific I bought. We will stay in a hotel Friday night, hit the show Saturday, then drive back to Al's Sat. evening.

I don't know if you're interested, but Palmer is a pretty happening place in terms of train activity (it's about 25 miles from where I am at the U. of MA at Amherst). The yard pretty much parellels most of the center of town, and there is a restaurant which used to be the old station on the Boston and Albany/ Central Vermont diamond. There's a good chance there might be something happening even if you only stop by for a few minutes.

A friend of mine is in the NRHS Central Connecticut Chapter. They will be doing a book sale at the Springfield Show.

There should be some good books available. Both traction and main line operations.
