Hi,
I found six copies of Rails Northeast in my L&RP collection (which is missing 10 issues that seem to have been misplaced).
I enjoyed Rails Northeast because of my families ties with the PRR/PC/CR. I also recall that I had just renewed my subscription for three years (I think) in 1979 when the issues stopped coming. My US mail was returned as Address Unknown. Google and e-Bay do not seem to find the magazines.
I was wondering if anyone knew what happened to the magazine and how many issues were eventually published.
When my magazines quit being delivered, they were publishing the "entire" track plan from NYC to DC in the margins of the magazine.

I recall Rails Northeast, but I don't remember if I subscribed or just picked it up once an a while.

railpub.com is a good source of back issue magazines for those who want to fill in their collections. I checked and they do stock various issues of Rails Northeast, spanning the years 1976 through 1984.

Can't find my own boxload or catalog files right now, but as I recall RNE was a joint victim of printing progress and subject interest. As I recall, Robert Reid, publisher/editor, lost his savings and probably his house trying in vain to keep his publishing empire (which included, ever so briefly, attempts at "PC Railroader" and "B&O Railroader" and several books) going, finally quitting sometime in mid-1983 as I recall. But RNE's relatively low-grade reproduction and print quality was no match for the concurrent Trains, Railfan (which went from quarterly to bimonthly during the time), and at the end the new Railpace. Some of the last few issues were actually heavily "padded" with old photos and plans. Issues were highly coveted--and priced--for a spell when modelers had to have the coveted blueprints and track diagrams. Nowadays they're scarce, but not as highly coveted/priced, at least in my corner. Complete sets reside at the RR Museum of Pa. and the Md. Rail Heritage Library.
