If you go down one notch on the aerial photo, I cannot tell if the rotary snowplow and UP 0-6-0 4455 are still on the other side of the highway or not. Have these been moved onto the museum proper or are they still across the road?

I always thought they had a standard gauge connection but it doesn't look that way. Except for the river and houses doesn't look it would be too hard to have one. Did they ever?

Yes, briefly, when they moved the CB&Q 5629 onto the property. Temporary track was laid across the road into the museum property. I can't recall whether they just cut the track and bent it or laid a switch, but I suspect the former. The snowplow and 4455 sat on a stub of this track in the 1970s. Just wondering if they still do? I haven't been to the museum for over 30 years..

I was just there on Thursday while in Denver - I can assure you they are still there across the road from the museum.

It's the dark object between the railroad and the creek. If you zoom in the shadow shows the shape of a rotary with the fan hood toward the stream.

Those two pieces of equipment are still acroff the street, but there is talk of having them moved into the main museum grounds.

There is no connection to live rails at the museum. When they moved the D&RGW Diesels in a few years ago they came by truck.

It is interesting to see in the ariel photo just how much building has gone on in the surrounding area in the last few years.

I just got a new Iron Horse News in the mail and it looks pretty sharp, redesigned with some bits of color and better photos.

The Colorado Railroad Museum is deserving of your contributions and visits. They have a great bookstore!

It has been many years since I visited CRM and I have long known that they were "landlocked" and surrounded by businesses, homes, etc. But seeing this photo makes me realize that there seems to be some vacant land (farmland?) to the north of the museums property. Just wondered if there has ever been any talk of trying to acquire some or all of this property if it ever comes on the market?

You bet the CRRM has its eye on the property north of them as well as property on the east side of the museum. All it takes is the opportunity and $$$$$.
