Odd conversion of color slides taken in summer of 1967. Enroute to Steamtown or still at Union Carbide?

Adjusting the contrast in photoshop makes the second photo appear as if #1218 is moving in a train going under an overpass. The condition of the rail and ballast in the photo would seem to support that conclusion also.
