About the pilot - I can offer that some folks from Altoona visited TVRM to look at a new pilot we have in our warehouse. The pilot was one of two that were acquired from the Pegram Shops years ago during a clean up (one of the pilots has been installed on the 6914). The visitors took some dimensions and headed back. It is my understanding that new pilots were constructed using those dimensions.

I think a nice SR "Look Ahead Look South" logo would look good on the nose.

I doubt the cars will change color. The "maroon" is actually close to the old N&W passenger colors, if not an exact match. Now the units and the cars both convey the heritage of Southern and N&W. Also, since the N&W was controlled by the PRR for many years, and the paint is close, PRR heritage is conveyed as well.

What is the box car for behind the modern Geep? Power car?

Looking at the SR logo inspired the thought about spelling out Norfolk Southern below the horse. Perhaps having "The Thoroughbred of Transportation" below the horse would accomplish the same visual effect and capture the spirit of the SR logo.

It is a power car. The units are equipped with HEP. I am pretty sure once the other A unit is done, they should drop the old MOW boxcar and depend on the HEP from the locomotives.

It never made any sense to me after the Steam Program was axed that they got rid of the power car that they made for the consist at that time. It was converted Baggage car and it looked a lot better than a box car on a passenger train.

According to my NS sources (including Conrail's semi-official Executive E Photographer), that HEP boxcar is dragged along only when it is anticipated that the train will be sitting static as a hotel for some time--which is apparently the plan for Augusta, Georgia......... the box car has a highly efficient and quiet HEP generator, unlike the ex-MARC/B&O locos.........

The horse is disproportionately small. Make it bigger.

Shifted load of lumber almost mars a pretty paintjob:

Interesting photo, to say the least.

I don't think this is how some would have liked to have redone the paint job. Somehow I don't think the boss would approve.

Any idea where the F's have been lately or where they are going?

They recently made a trip to Louisville Ky for the big horse race there. There are some pictures of that move at these links.
