Since it took such a slow trip to Indiana, quite a few en route photos were taken. After all the work, I'm glad someone noticed it out there. It is often fun to see how much information is on the internet when these things are moved. Several people have asked me what the total cost of the move was. It was about $25,000 in direct costs with the engine going by flatcar and the tender by truck.

Presently we are working with the NYCSHS to see what plans are available in the archives. Several volunteers are working on new windows for the cab. The engine has been reconnected with its tender as well and the graffitti has been painted over. Still plenty to do for display, but we are moving along as the weather permits. We have had no luck in locating any in service photos of the engine (either on the NYC, Nicholson Terminal, or Wyandotte Southern) and would be interested in anything people may run across. Some evaluation work has been done on the engine, but until our shop building is completed, I don't think much will taken apart for a more complete inspection of the boiler and running gear.

We have a rather large trackwork project going on right now to install switches into our new museum site, replace two on the south end of our yard, a new grade crossing, as well as the installation of new concrete box culverts to allow access into the museum display area. This is taking quite a bit of time as well. This work should be mostly complete by the end of the month.

After seeing it forlorn in Hagerstown for so many years, it's nice to see the engine getting some much-deserved TLC. An NYC engine on an NYC line-- certainly appropriate. Good luck with it, and maybe someday, the 'net will be full of "first fire-up" shots of 6894.
