If anyone is in San Francisco this year, I work at the Maritime Park and will be glad to show you around if I can. Two of our ships have a rail linkage in addition to steam engines. The steam tug HERCULES was part of Western Pacific and the ferry EUREKA was part of the Northwestern Pacific. Ted Miles

How about a photograph of each for my forthcoming CD-ROM "Surviving World Steamships"? I will be glad to include your websites' URL on the photograph; please also let me know whom to credit the photograph with. Just email them to my e-mail address.

I know there are other folks involved in maritime museums on this board; if you would a little bit of free publicity please send me a picture of your steamboat/steamship to include on the CD. I am trying to catch as many vessels as I can in my travels, and there are lots of photographs of US Navy ships on the web, but more help is appreciated.

I don't photographs from a website without permission from the webmaster/photographer. I don't want to step on someone's intellectual property. The only exception to the this rule are photographs such as the ones from the US Navy that are placed in the public domain and stated as such.

The same is true of printed material, which is usually copywrited anyway.

One reason that I am suggesting the San Francisco Maritime / Park Service web site is that the pictures (in fact our whole colllection is in the public domain. Enjoy them!

It's my understanding, The Interior Department had to disconnect from the internet from a Court Order in the case involving the Indian Trust Funds. I understand some DOI sites are back up but clearly not nps.gov/
