I do not know if it has anything to do with the lost threads and PMs but lately I have been having trouble both here and at Chaski with my log in disappearing. I have had to log in as many as 3 times I can remember to look at both my PM and to reply on the board. Could these problems be related and since both boards appear to be the same format could this be a problem that goes deeper than the board itself?

I've had trouble too. i'm logged in when the site comes on, but when I'm looking at posts, somehow I get unlogged. And when I try to post a reply, I keep getting an "invalid session" message, and I have to repeatedly try to reply before it goes thru.

I found out that it had to do with my spyware detection package. Switch off any spyware/cookies detection and disable function and see if that doesn't allow you to stay logged in and post.

I guess cookies fly too close to the bad guys.

Welcome back RyPN and thanks.

After logging on it seems I am still having this same problem. Am I the only one still with this problem? Any ideas? I no longer have the problem at Chaski so I guess there is no relation to that site.

Thanks.

Aside from having my login rejected the first time I tried to log on last night, everything seems to be working fine. It's great to see everyone back on this board.

Same happened to me on my first log in.

Re: log in disappearing, all sites use cookies to keep track of your log in status. Malware protection (anti-spy ware) can block the request for the cookie in your browser's cache. Also, most browsers have a setting that will not allow a cookie to be saved. Usually cookie handling is set in your your browser's security settings so check there to see how cookies are handled.

Edited to add that if you are using a corporate computer, the company's IT department may have "policy edited" the security tabs away so you can not change your browser's settings. Ditto your malware protection.

John: This has been a continuous problem for me, too. Probably why I don't post too much here.

I log in, then scroll to the bottom of the page, and it says I can't post, can't... etc.

If I want to reply to a someone's post, I have to log in. That log it seems to be valid for my one reply only. As soon as I send the reply, the bottom of the pages say the same as noted above. Oh, well, I guess I can live with it.

Since I think I did manage to log in, while I'm logged in, I'm sure glad to see RYPN back & running. I don't have a lot to offer, but reading what is posted here is extremely valuable to me. Thanks to everyone involved.

Jim,

Next time you log in, check the box that says "Log me in automatically on each visit." That's how I'm set up, along with the flat view which I prefer to the thread view.

We're glad to have you here. Serving as a moderator is a pay back for me since I too get so much pleasure reading what's going on.
