Nice "patina" on the engine in that turntable photo. Great shots of Flagg Coal, too.

That pix of building a fire caught my eye.
Friend of mine was telling me recently about
a summer job he had in college building
fires in steamers for the NYC.
He said they had a big box of wood
shavings and then dumped some
kero on it, built on big pile of
handshoveled coal.
Nice pix.

And a couple more... I just decided to screw around with them in photoshop, using my trademark sepia conversion, with some of the original color.

There's no need to see his photos . . .

these aren't the boxcars you're looking for.

You can go about your business.

Move along . . . Move along.

You know its not too late to save the matching caboose to 1225, the caboose at the Halton County Radial Railway that was L&PS started out life as a Pere Marquette caboose. She is in need of restoration, but would make an excellent companion to 1225.

TJ -

Any chance that the REST of us here on RyPN could eventually see photos of the AA and Wabash boxcars?

As soon as the air pressure is up, I wonder how long it will take to make big piles of sand under front of the drivers from the sand pipes. It looks like it's wide open for the forward sanders.
Nice photos!

Other than the fact its from the Canadian lines, was sold off to L&PS by the Pere Marquette a good 10 years before #1225 was ever purchased, AND has a TREE growing through it.....

If I were SRI, I'd be spending money on more important projects, like rescuing the NYC J3a from an East Chicago scrap yard, regauging the Otisville Branch, raising the City of Milwaukee, rebuilding the Ann Arbor roundhouse in Owosso, finding the right paper clips to put the 5629 back together (thank god there is still a main rod, those are hard to make), hosting the yellow ribbon express, rebuilding the MILW skytop cars and refurbishing the GTW Lansdowne while they're at it, buying the 6325, repatriating the Stirling 0-8-0s (because the only thing better than a basket case locomotive is three of them), bringing all the LS&I engines home, rebuilding GTW 5632, 5030, 6039, 4070, 1223, 1601....basically, I imagine there are many things that would come first (anyone have a couple dollars handy??)

If all goes well, it would be my hope Mr. Craft would post such on here after said photo charter, as well as the changes we made to #1225.

Thanks,

TJ
