There seems to be some photos with a "person" hanging out of the Pere Marquette box car door. This confuses me. Was there a "hobo" being depicted for the photographers? If so, I would hope that it isn't done in the future. I don't think you would want to give anybody the wrong idea that hoboing is something that should be done. If I am NOT seeing the legs of a "person" there, please correct me and let me know what I am seeing.

Les -

clearly, your eyes deceive you. It didn't happen. It was an accident. And I'm sure it will never happen again.

You caused me a couple of bad hours there, John. I had half the garden roto-tilled before I finally remembered where that line came from.

In a word --- volunteers. And a lot of cooperation ;- )

Many thanks to everyone at Historic Transport Preservation and Pete Lerro Productions for helping us create a weekend that no one will forget in Central Michigan for quite a while. Everyone here at SRI, while thoroughly exhuasted, also thoroughly enjoyed ourselves over the weekend. Through the efforts of nearly fifty volunteers, including representatives from the Henry Ford Museum, Huckleberry Railroad, Nevada Northern Railway, Grand Canyon Railway, and Great Lakes Central we were able to put on a heck of a show.

Anyone standing in that first photo line (or near it) at King Road Saturday morning knows what a moving experience this weekend was. Charlie Kricher and his whistle at sunrise was, well...there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Not to mention some pretty awesome night shots at Carland.....

Through a lot of effort, we rolled back the clock to about 1951 or so for a few hours. Pretty cool, I gotta say.

So, when ya 'all coming back?

OK, first . . . what happens at King Road stays at King Road. Besides, it was a cinder. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

When? Whenever we're welcome.

I don't know if this fits within the new rules and regs, but I just have to put forth this quote (stolen from another hobby). "Steam preservation is not a matter of life and death. It's more important than that."
What a great group of photos you guys produced from that 1225 outing. Thanks for sharing them with us.
